Bradshaw: Reading what Cooper said , I think he got it right - him saying he thought they rode a little more conservative and not that ragged edge. I used to think about them doing that back when they had 45 minute motos. To be able to go off of a starting gate – and I'm going to say this, under all natural conditions, meaning that there's not additives to a rider's body, that you can literally take off of a starting line and race 110% for 45 minutes, on a motocross track, then after just a one hour break go back out and do it again, I think that's damn near impossible. So at some point, during that time, you've got to conserve a little bit, maybe play some games with yourself or the other riders, so you kind of ride more relaxed, more in control… What Cooper was staying with our Supercross is also true, starts are so frickin' important. If you get a bad start you have minimal time to get to the front. And you need to make it happen as quick as possible. You've got guys clumped together, you've got to try to get past guys two guys, three guys at a time… I think he was dead on ins saying that. A lot of their styles were very similar to Bayle. He was smooth, he stood up on the bike a lot… And Bayle, he had some crashes, but you never see too many wild and crazy get offs by him. And it just seemed like when he was over here racing, if he had to put up a fight and ride the ragged edge and there was a chance of going down, then he was just fine with where he was at. Me, I wasn't going to be satisfied with that. I was going to go for it, and it's probably the reason I didn't win more championships. But I wanted to win races and hope that the championships came. Probably bad decisions on my part. But now I feel like that styles [between US and European racers] are a little more similar. I think the format has changed, they're riding more Supercross… I think the different racing formats have some of our guys like that, but watching Cooper in Charlotte. He rode those two motos, to me, like a twenty five, twenty six year old veteran. He just stuck with it and it all worked out. And it didn't work out because of luck. [re: Would you trade your legacy as the aggressive racer for a 250 SX or MX championship?] No, no, I wouldn't go back and do anything different. I still wanted to win every single race and I was going to ride every single race as hard as I could and as hard as I was able to do it and I wouldn't change that. Because if it meant legs flying off and half sidesaddle to pass a guy, that's probably going to be me. And I just, no, I wouldn't go back and change anything. And I didn't do it for any reason other than just wanting to win. I was never good with accepting anything other than winning. And ignorance, selfish, whatever you want to say, but I was not happy with second place, third place, or anything else down the line. Even if I had come from dead last and got second place, I wasn't happy. The only time I was ever happy getting second place was when Doug Dubach won his first supercross and I got second place. I got stuck in the gate and the start went down across the stadium, made a bit loop and came back across the starting line, and the officials – I got stuck in the gate so bad the official tried to hold me because the other riders were getting close as I was passing him on the start straight. Me and Dr. D went across the finish line damn near side by side, and it wasn't that I let him win or that I was okay with second, I was trying to win but that was a happy second place for me.
