The smallest-displacement thumper in Husqvarna’s MX range is the FC 250, which rounded out the podium in Dirt Rider’s 250cc Four-Stroke Motocross Shootout last year. Before putting the 2024 version through its paces at Cahuilla Creek Motocross, we took some time to snap photos of some of its high-quality components. Scroll down to see images of the 2024 Husqvarna FC 250 and find out about the many features that make it a premium offering in the 250F MX segment .
Completely revamped last year, Husqvarna’s FC 250 returns for 2024 with updated suspension settings, a new high-grip seat cover, and different radiator shroud graphics. Mason Owens The fuel-injected liquid-cooled DOHC four-stroke 250cc single-cylinder engine produces class-leading power numbers on our in-house dyno. We documented peak figures of 42.9 hp at 13,000 rpm and 20.2 lb.-ft. of torque at 9,200 rpm. Mason Owens A flow-designed resonance chamber-equipped header pipe is a common feature among all three Austrian 250cc four-stroke motocross bikes this year. Mason Owens There aren’t vents just below the seat like on the 2023–2024 KTM 250 SX-F. Instead, the FC 250′s airbox is closed off and apparently can serve as a grab handle when lifting the bike on and off a stand. Mason Owens In addition to the stock airbox cover (pictured here), Husqvarna includes an ventilated option with the bike (part No. A36006903000AB). Mason Owens There’s no shortage of engine tunability and electronic features on the FC 250 with two engine maps, traction control (TC), launch control, and quickshift (QS). Mason Owens The Austrian brand now applies a sticker on the frame to remind riders which button activates each setting. Mason Owens Stock gearing on the 2023–2024 Husqvarna FC 250 is 14/51. Mason Owens Husqvarna is one of three bikes in the class to use an air fork. The others are its Austrian cousins, and they’re all spec’d with a WP Xact 48mm closed-cartridge component. Mason Owens Left fork leg is responsible for air pressure. Stock setting for this model is 10.5 bar. Mason Owens Right fork leg handles damping with a compression adjuster up top and rebound on bottom. Mason Owens In case you want to put fork air pressure and clickers back to stock and don’t recall what each setting is, Husqvarna includes that information on this sticker applied to the right-side fork leg. Mason Owens After removing the right side panel, the WP Xact shock’s low- and high-speed compression adjusters can be tuned by hand. Mason Owens Same goes for the rebound damping adjuster on the bottom of the shock, and there’s a slot in it for those who prefer to turn it with a flat-blade screwdriver. Mason Owens Shock spring rate is 42 Nm. Mason Owens CNC-machined triple clamps are one of the many high-quality components on Husqvarna’s full-size dirt bikes. Mason Owens Like its orange cousin, the FC 250 is spec’d with class-leading Brembo brakes. Mason Owens Excel rims replace the D.I.D. DirtStar hoops found on prior-year models, and Dunlop Geomax MX33 soft-to-intermediate-terrain tires remain an excellent OEM rubber choice. Mason Owens Husqvarna went with a smaller rear axle beginning on last year’s motocross and cross-country racers, down from 25mm to 22mm. Mason Owens Premium components abound in the control area such as Brembo front brake and hydraulic clutch systems, a ProTaper handlebar, and ODI lock-on grips. Mason Owens Husqvarna spec’d a new high-grip seat cover for 2024 to give riders better control under hard acceleration. Mason Owens New radiator shroud graphics are par for the course on most dirt bikes from year to year, and the FC 250 is no exception. Mason Owens On our automotive scales, the 2024 Husqvarna FC 250 weighs 237 pounds wet. Mason Owens 2024 Husqvarna FC 250 Specs
