2023 Beta Xtrainer Technical Information

Features and specifications of Beta’s entry-level enduro model.

The Beta Xtrainer (pronounced “cross trainer”) has some very unique features. Its intended use is as an entry-level off-road motorcycle. However, this is not a kids bike; it’s built for adults.

Beta’s Xtrainer is an entry-level bike with all the styling of a racebike.Jeff Allen

Don’t let the aggressive styling of the Xtrainer fool you. It’s intended for all riders, especially beginners who want a bike that has the potential for them to learn the basics and continue up to advanced skills on the same machine.

Engine is a liquid-cooled 293cc two-stroke with electronic oil injection, a Keihin PWK 36mm carburetor, and Moto Tassinari VForce4 reed valve system.Jeff Allen

If you ride in remote areas or simply like having a backup, you can add a kickstarter to the liquid-cooled 293cc two-stroke engine. Beta offers a kit available through its Build Your Own Beta (BYOB) program for $399.99.

On our in-house Dynojet 250i rear-wheel dynamometer, the Xtrainer made 31.7 hp at 8,200 rpm and 22.9 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,200 rpm.Jeff Allen

The Xtrainer uses a similar powerplant to Beta’s 300 RR model. Engine settings are designed to be smooth and friendly. To help personalize power delivery, a 5mm Allen screw can be used to adjust the timing of the Beta Progressive Valve (BPV) power valve. That’s not to say it’s down on power as it is built for adults, not kids. If you want more power out of it, you can always look into an aftermarket pipe and silencer.

The Xtrainer has a new subframe for 2023 that’s similar to the RR models. There are also updated side panels and an easy, quick-removal air filter cover. If you live in an area where turning your bike into a dual sport model is allowed, the Xtrainer is prewired for a full lighting package.

The 2.4-gallon fuel tank has a narrow design fitting inside the chromoly steel frame. There’s no need to premix fuel as the Xtrainer has an electronic oil injection system. Oil reservoir tank holds 650 milliliters of oil, which is enough oil for almost four tanks of fuel. The bike’s electronic system has two warning lights—the first indicates a low oil level and the second shows a system failure, meaning you must shut off the engine.

Engine settings are based on a specifically designed exhaust pipe.Jeff Allen

The Xtrainer is considered a closed-course model and does not come with a spark arrestor. Beta accessories and aftermarket companies have spark arrestor–equipped silencers and performance exhaust pipes available for those who want them.

Because it’s considered a closed-course bike, the silencer does not have a spark arrestor.Jeff Allen
New for 2023, the Xtrainer comes with a lighter, higher-performing lithium battery.Jeff Allen
Ollé R16V suspension is spec’d at both ends. The 43mm coil-spring fork offers spring preload and rebound damping adjustability, while the shock is tunable for spring preload, compression damping, and rebound damping.Jeff Allen
It’s hard to believe a 2.4-gallon fuel tank fits in the Xtrainer’s chromoly steel frame.Jeff Allen
Seat is removable at the push of a button.Jeff Allen
For brakes, Beta went with a Nissin dual-piston front caliper and 260mm disc, while at the rear is a Nissin single-piston caliper grabbing a 240mm disc.Jeff Allen

This model comes stock with a D.I.D O-ring chain.Jeff Allen

With its 2.4-gallon fuel tank topped up, the Xtrainer hits Dirt Rider’s automotive scales at 239 pounds. Also, seat height is lower than most full-size bikes; we measured it at 36.5 inches.Jeff Allen
