2025 GasGas MC 250F Technical Overview

Features and specifications of GasGas’ standard-model 250F motocross bike.

In addition to adding dual sport motorcycles to its lineup last year, GasGas overhauled its entire full-size off-road-only dirt bike range including motocross, cross-country, and enduro. Following such a big change that spanned many motorcycles, the fun Austrian brand didn’t wait two years to give its MC and EX models a mid-generation update. Instead, it granted those full-size motocross and cross-country racers with changes similar to those seen on KTM’s and Husqvarna’s comparable models, which last saw major updates in 2023.

With GasGas up to speed with its Austrian relatives in motocross and cross-country segments, we’ve compiled a list of what’s new on its 250cc four-stroke MX bike for 2025 leading up to our annual comparison with six of its competitors. Read on to learn about what’s new on the 2025 GasGas MC 250F as well as ways in which it differs from KTM’s 250 SX-F and Husqvarna’s FC 250.

GasGas’ MC 250F is much different than it was just two years ago. It was fully overhauled in 2024 and receives notable updates for 2025, namely to the chassis.Jeff Allen
The fun Austrian brand’s fuel-injected liquid-cooled DOHC four-stroke 250cc single-cylinder engine for motocross use produces 39.5 hp and 18.8 lb.-ft. of torque on the Dirt Rider dyno.Jeff Allen
The MC 250F’s header pipe didn’t feature a resonance chamber from 2021–2023, but does in 2024 and 2025.Jeff Allen
One of the first things KTM and Husqvarna motocross bike riders will notice when at the controls of a GasGas is its use of Braktec hydraulics instead of Brembo.Jeff Allen
Absence of an engine map, traction control, launch control, and quick-shift module on the left side of the handlebar is another differentiation between the MC 250F and its Austrian cousins. Engine start and stop button is the same.Jeff Allen
A one-piece lower handlebar mount was new last year.Jeff Allen
Chassis changes are the biggest news on the full-size 2025 GasGas motocross bikes, the most visible being cutouts in the shock tower and engine mounts.Jeff Allen
Only visible upon close inspection, swingarm has been revised in an effort to enhance chain slider durability.Jeff Allen
The MC 250F shares the same WP Xact AER 48mm closed-cartridge fork as the 250 SX-F, but with model-specific internal settings.Jeff Allen
Instead of CNC-machined triple clamps like the 250 SX-F and FC 250 use, the MC 250F’s fork is held in forged triple clamps.Jeff Allen
WP Xact shock setting is updated for 2025, and linkage has been reworked with different seals and a smaller-diameter bolt.Jeff Allen
Shock spring rate is common among Austrian-built 250cc four-stroke motocross bikes at 42 Nm.Jeff Allen
The MC 250F runs a one-tooth-larger rear sprocket (52-tooth) than the 250 SX-F and FC 250, and is spec’d with Maxxis Maxxcross MX-ST tires instead of Dunlop Geomax MX34s.Jeff Allen
Braktec brakes are another differentiating factor between the MC 250F and its Austrian counterparts. According to GasGas, the rear caliper is more robust in 2025.Jeff Allen
Footpegs are a shared component on KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas dirt bikes, and are largest in the game.Jeff Allen
GasGas began spec’ing hourmeters on its full-size motocross and cross-country racers last year to help riders keep track of all-important maintenance intervals.Jeff Allen
The fun Austrian brand ditched white lettering (which was used from 2021–2024) in favor of black on its MY25 dirt bikes.Jeff Allen
GasGas’ quarter-liter four-stroke motocross bike rolls onto our automotive scales with a wet weight of 239 pounds in 2025.Jeff Allen
