Since leaving its full-size motocross bikes mechanically unchanged from 2021 –2023 , GasGas has been on the throttle updating them in recent years. First, there was 2024′s complete overhaul , which extended to the cross-country , enduro , and dual sport ranges. For 2025, the fun Austrian brand has given its MC and EX models a mid-generation update, which we covered in their respective first look stories. Now that we have the 2025 GasGas MC 450F in our possession, we pointed our cameras at its visible changes to show and explain more of what the differences from last year’s model are. Read on for that very information.
Following a complete overhaul last year, GasGas granted its MC 450F some notable chassis updates as well as suspension setting changes and other minor revisions for 2025. Jeff Allen The fun Austrian brand’s standard-model flagship motocross bike is powered by the same fuel-injected liquid-cooled SOHC four-stroke 450cc single-cylinder engine as KTM’s 450 SX-F and Husqvarna’s FC 450. Jeff Allen The MC 450F is good for 52.9 hp and 33.5 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear wheel on Dirt Rider ’s in-house dyno. Jeff Allen Header pipe isn’t the same as the 450 SX-F’s and FC 450’s since it doesn’t have a resonance chamber. Jeff Allen Another key difference between the MC 450F and its orange and white cousins is its use of Braktec hydraulics instead of Brembo. Jeff Allen The silver Neken handlebar doesn’t house an engine map/traction control/launch control/quick-shift module on the left side, just engine start and stop buttons on the right. jeff a The biggest update made to the MC 450F for 2025 is found in its double-cradle chromoly steel frame; this cutout in the shock tower is the most visible difference over last year. Jeff Allen Head stays receive the cutout treatment as well. Jeff Allen GasGas slightly modified the front of the swingarm with the intention of prolonging chain slider life. Jeff Allen The fun Austrian brand is one of just three (the others being KTM and Husqvarna) in the 450cc motocross bike segment to use pneumatic front suspension with a WP Xact AER 48mm closed-cartridge fork. Jeff Allen Air pressure is contained in the left leg while damping is housed in the right. Stock front suspension settings for the MC 450F are 10.5 bar for air pressure, 12 clicks (out from fully closed) for compression damping, and 18 clicks for rebound damping. Jeff Allen For rear suspension, there’s a WP Xact shock. Its standard settings are 15 clicks for low-speed compression damping, 1.5 turns for high-speed compression damping, and 15 clicks for rebound damping. Jeff Allen From 2021–2023, the MC 450F featured a softer-rate shock spring (42 Nm, to be exact) than the 450 SX-F and FC 450, but that changed last year and it now uses the same 45 Nm spring as the other Austrian 450cc motocrossers. Jeff Allen Since last year, GasGas has relied on Braktec to slow and stop its full-size motocross bikes. Jeff Allen While KTM’s and Husqvarna’s full-size motocrossers are equipped with Dunlop Geomax MX34 tires in 2025, GasGas’ continue to be spec’d with Maxxis Maxxcross MX-ST rubber. Jeff Allen GasGas has gone away from white lettering on its graphics in favor of black for MY25. Jeff Allen On our automotive scales, the 2025 GasGas MC 450F weighs 241 pounds wet.
