Following in KTM’s and Husqvarna’s footsteps from last year, GasGas has given its motocross bikes a complete overhaul for 2024. The five models still consist of a pair of two-strokes including the MC 125 and MC 250, along with a trio of four-strokes—the MC 250F, MC 350F, and MC 450F.
A redesigned shift shaft drum and shift fork is said to allow for smoother gear changes on GasGas’ smallest-displacement full-size motocrosser.GasGas
All of the models have new double-cradle chromoly steel frames that feature revised wall thicknesses to improve rider feedback and energy absorption. According to GasGas, anti-squat behavior has been improved to maximize traction when exiting corners. Subframes continue to be made completely of aluminum, and are also new to work with the revised frame geometry.
Yet another chassis component that’s new are the swingarms, which are said to be slightly stiffer and lighter. A smaller-diameter 22mm rear axle is spec’d to work with the refined flex characteristics of the entire chassis. Chain slider is claimed to be more durable with a more rounded guide to prevent it from catching the ground in deeply rutted corners.

Bodywork features larger contact surfaces and an improved rider triangle further enhances control. Radiator shrouds are shaped in a way that’s said to help riders grip the bike better when on the throttle, and the same can be said for the new seat.

Forged aluminum triple clamps are new and designed to offer just the right amount of calculated flex thanks to a more forgiving steering stem. There’s also new adjustable handlebar mounts with a slightly larger contact area against the handlebar so there’s less chance of the bar twisting in the event of a crash.
GasGas’ full-size motocrossers continue with WP Xact 48mm air forks, but the components are spec’d with revised settings to work with the ‘24 frame. A new hydrostop is said to take the sting out of heavy landings and help riders maintain forward momentum.
In the rear, there’s a redesigned WP Xact shock that’s shorter and lighter than the outgoing version, but still offers 11.8 inches of travel. Internal changes include a new piston for improved initial comfort and helping the shock stay slightly higher in its stroke, especially under hard acceleration. Damping adjustments can now be made by hand.
According to GasGas, all of its 2024 motocross bike engines are lighter, and produce more torque and high-revving power than the previous-generation (2021–2023) models.GasGas
Model-specific updates have to do with the engines, all of which are new and tilted slightly back to lower the countershaft sprocket and centralize weight. The MC 125 and MC 250 no longer have kickstarters, and GasGas gave them both electric start. The biggest update for the two-stroke duo is the switch to throttle body injection (TBI) via a Keihin 39mm throttle body.
With the use of TBI, the traditional two-stroke power valve on these models has been replaced with an electronic exhaust control system. Now, the lateral and main exhaust ports can be controlled and opened independently from each other for a tailor-made power delivery. GasGas says the cylinder heads on its premix-burners are significantly improved in many details as well as in overall quality.
Instead of Brembo, GasGas now uses Braktec for its brake calipers and master cylinders, and clutch master and slave cylinders.GasGas
On the four-strokes, the MC 250F and MC 350F feature larger titanium exhaust valves while the MC 450F is equipped with a cylinder head that’s lighter and more compact with revised intake ports to boost horsepower. The five models use Pankl Racing Systems transmissions that engage a specific engine map best suited to each gear. Plus, there’s a new shifter design that helps prevent dirt buildup.
Instead of Brembo, as it used from 2021–2023, GasGas has switched to Braktec for its brake calipers and master cylinders, and clutch master and slave cylinders. Front and rear brake rotor sizes remain the same at 260mm and 220mm, respectively.
Fuel tanks on the five models boast an approximately 0.2-gallon increase in capacity over the outgoing versions. Speaking of larger, footpegs are just that and feature a new mounting design that’s further inward on the frame. According to GasGas, this makes the platforms less prone to catching the edge of deep ruts and jump takeoffs when scrubbing.
It’s the little things. GasGas’ MX models now come with an hourmeter mounted on the top triple clamp.GasGas
