Husqvarna ’s FC 250 has followed the same update trajectory as KTM’s 250 SX-F since its inception in 2014 , and that trend continues in 2025 with chassis and suspension revisions following its last major overhaul in 2023 . The focus of this mid-generation update was brought about by rider concerns of its chassis being quite a bit more rigid than the prior-generation (2019 –2022 ) model, and changes addressing that are seen in a windowed shock tower and cutout engine mounts.
How this reworked frame, new head stays, and suspension refinements make the FC 250 perform on track is yet to be determined as we compile notes from our 2025 250F Motocross Shootout . In the meantime, we’ve gathered static and detail photos of it to give riders a visual of what’s new for 2025, and cover some of the FC 250′s long-standing items and features that help make it such an impressive machine.
Husqvarna’s FC 250 enjoys a mid-generation update for 2025 and continues to be the most expensive standard-model 250cc four-stroke motocross bike on the market at $10,499. Jeff Allen The lone engine-related revision for 2025 is its air inlet sleeve and snorkel are now a one-piece part to prevent deformation. Jeff Allen You won’t find a more powerful 250cc four-stroke motocross mill at high rpm than the FC 250’s. We documented peak figures of 40.4 hp and 18.9 lb.-ft. of torque on our in-house rear-wheel dyno, which are highest of the standard models in this category in 2025. Jeff Allen Both the FC 250 and KTM 250 SX-F come with an optional vented airbox cover, but the former’s subframe is closed-off (just below the seat) unlike the latter’s, which makes for less airflow into the engine. Jeff Allen The FC 250 isn’t short on electronic options with two engine maps, traction control, launch control, and quickshift—all of which are toggled via a small and compact module on the left side of the handlebar. Jeff Allen Husqvarna’s full-size motocross bikes have used Brembo hydraulic clutches since 2022. Before that, they were spec’d with Magura. Jeff Allen Seeing as its windowed shock tower is mostly hidden behind bodywork, a quick and easy way to tell a 2025 Husqvarna FC 250 from a 2023 and 2024 model is by its cutout engine mounts. Jeff Allen Chain slider life decreased when Husqvarna moved to a new-generation motocross and cross-country model platform in 2023, so the Austrian brand sought to improve it in 2025 with a minor revision to the swingarm. Jeff Allen Husqvarna is the only Austrian brand to spec CNC-machined triple clamps on all of its full-size dirt bikes. KTM’s enduros and dual sports are equipped with forged triple clamps, and all of GasGas’ standard-model dirt bikes have them as well. Jeff Allen Fork tubes on Husqvarna’s full-size motocrossers are 10mm shorter than KTM’s and GasGas’, making its WP Xact AER 48mm closed-cartridge fork unique to the brand. Jeff Allen The rear of the FC 250 is lower than the KTM 250 SX-F and GasGas MC 250F, with different shock linkage. Jeff Allen Like the 250 SX-F, Dunlop Geomax MX34 tires are new stock rubber on the FC 250 in 2025, while D.I.D DirtStar rims remain a brand-specific item on Husqvarna’s standard-model motocross bikes. Jeff Allen Gearing is the same as the 250 SX-F, at 13/51. Jeff Allen Stopping power on the FC 250 is remarkable thanks to its lightweight and strong Brembo brakes. Jeff Allen All of the Austrian brands opt for a one-piece lower handlebar mount, but Husqvarna remains the only one to spec a ProTaper handlebar. Jeff Allen Husqvarna stepped away from gray radiator shrouds and yellow fork guards and rear fender in favor of all-white bodywork, which pays homage to models of decades past. Jeff Allen With a Dirt Rider –measured wet weight of 235 pounds, Husqvarna can say its quarter-liter four-stroke motocrosser is lightest of those from the Austrian camp in 2025.
