Excitement in Round Two of BooKoo Arenacross Series - News - Dirt Rider Magazine

Advanstar—a leading provider of print, event and online media for the powersports, off-road and automotive aftermarket industries—Opened the night full throttle as Round two of the K&N; Filters presents BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series Powered by Toyota went off in St. Charles, MO.Team Babbitt Enxus Kawasaki's Brad Ripple and Josh Woods racing on the Team Fun Center Suzuki, headed into round two looking to defend their 250 and 450 sweeps from the inaugural round of the BooKoo Arenacross series held in Ft. Worth November 4-6.The 250 main provided lots of fireworks as Ripple, who swept the 250 main in round one, battled with Shawn Clark on board his Unbound Energy Kawasaki and Tommy Hofmaster on the Sano Systems PPG Shogun Yamaha to try and claim the top spot once again. Clark proved to be too strong as he grabbed the holeshot and the win leaving Ripple in second place and Hofmaster taking the final podium spot finishing a close third after a heated battle that came down to the checkered flag. The close racing continued in the 450 main with all eyes on Team Babbitt Enxus Kawasaki's Josh Demuth as earlier in the week Demuth announced that he was switching from a Kawasaki KX 250 two-stroke to the 450F four-stroke which seemed to be a better fit for his aggressive riding style. The switch would pay off as the rider-bike combination would launch Demuth out if the gate with the holeshot and carry him to the victory, his first on the season. Team Fun Center Suzuki teammates Josh Woods and Shane Bess claimed the final two podium spots in the 450 class Friday night finishing second and third respectively after a late-race charge by Woods that just wasn't enough to propel him past a determined Demuth.Tiger Lacey picked up some BooKoo bucks as he took home the money in the Dash for Cash on board his Team BooKoo Energy Al Lamb's Dallas Honda.Damien Plotts, last Friday's Dash for Cash winner, on his Crossroads Powersports Rossini Racing Kawasaki had the fastest lap time during qualifying on the 450 and finished an impressive fourth just outside a podium finish in the 250 main event and sixth in the 450 main event.Night two of the second round of the BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series is set to drop the gate tomorrow night, November 12, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. for the Rock-n-Race Pit party on the floor of the arena with Metal Studs playing live and the track open to spectators for a close look at the technical track these racers compete on.Tickets are still on sale at the Family Arena box office, through Metrotix outlets, online at www.metrotix.com or charge by phone at 314-534-1111.250 Main
