Overview

After an overhaul last year, the 2025 KTM 450 XCF-W enduro returns with modest revisions, including new graphics, a revised swingarm, and updated shock settings—nothing major, which is just fine by us. The 2024 KTM 450 XCF-W earned a place on the Cycle World Ten Best Motorcycles as the Best Enduro, so it retains its special place in our hearts.

Based on the same engine and chassis as the 450 XC-F and 450 SX-F competition bikes, the off-road-focused KTM 450 XCF-W has the heart of a racer, but is tuned to handle the rigors of the great outdoors with an easy-to-ride low-end full of grunt, and a top-end that will pull hard. The previous model year went from an open-cartridge fork to a WP Xact closed-cartridge coil-spring fork (not the air fork of its SX-F cousin), which was a major improvement. The 2025 returns with no changes to the fork, only updated settings to the WP Xplor shock. The PDS design allows the shock to mount directly to the swingarm rather than a linkage system that could potentially get hung up on big obstacles such as logs and rocks.

An ultrabright LED headlight has a quick-release feature—handy in the event the rider wants to shed weight, or not risk roost damage to the headlight. The XCF-W also features a rear taillight. Electric start, Keihin fuel injection, and toolless suspension adjustability are standard. But if you want the handlebar-mounted switch that offers an engine map switch, traction control, and a quickshifter function (standard equipment on the XC-F line), you’ll need to shell out extra as it is an option on the XCF-W.

Plush suspension is not only comfortable, but helps the 2025 KTM 450 XCF-W soak up rocks, roots, and bumps on rugged trails.KTM
