When little ones are ready to move beyond the stability bike for a “real” electric dirt bike, the KTM SX-E 2 is ready to bridge the gap. Styled to look like the big bikes, the smallest of KTM’s SX family of motocrossers features many of the same components, such as disc brakes, WP front suspension, aluminum alloy bars, and ODI grips. As any motorcycle in the KTM group, the SX-E 2 can deliver sharp performance and stand up to the abuse of the toughest little rippers.
The SX-E 2 has three power modes including walking speed, medium power (12 mph max speed), and full power (21 mph max speed). On the safety feature side, a rollover sensor cuts power in the event of a tip-over. A wrist lanyard will also kill power and stop the bike if disconnected. An added feature is the forward-throttle motor activation. Once twisted forward, the bike will deliver a haptic vibration to the grip, indicating to the rider that the bike is ready to go. This will ideally prevent junior from grabbing a handful of unexpected throttle.
A quick-change lithium-ion battery will help make life easier for parents, while also allowing for more seat time for little ones. A hub motor means no chain or sprockets, no moving parts that can pinch fingers or that need lubing/tightening. Without oil, gas, coolant, or hot parts to worry about, and at a curb weight of only 64 pounds, the SX-E 2 can be transported in the family car just as easily as the bed of a truck.
