It was five years ago now that we were hearing news and writing stories about the cancelation of dirt bike racing events and series, but the latest one isn’t due to a worldwide pandemic. WESS Promotion has declared that it will not host the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship in 2025. The reason? KTM, its main partner, has withdrawn support of the series due to the Austrian concern’s well-documented financial troubles.
“Since we received the news in December, we have been in constant contact with WESS, and we understand the efforts they have made during the start of this year in order that they could continue their good work,” FIM president Jorge Viegas said. “Unfortunately, that is now not the case, and we cannot move forward without thanking them for the incredible job they have done with this series. The FIM Hard Enduro World Championship is a great championship, so we are determined to find a solution that can allow it to continue this year and long into the future.”
At least some of the events on the original schedule are expected to still take place, but as stand-alone races without FIM championship status.
