Haiden Deegan spent lots of time riding two-stroke dirt bikes as a kid, having competed on 50cc, 65cc, 85cc, and 112cc machinery at races such as the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. When moving up to full-size bikes, he switched from Orange Brigade KTM to Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, and as most high-level amateurs do, he went straight to a 250 four-stroke to contest the 250 B and Schoolboy 2 (12-17) B/C classes.
Results indicate Deegan didn’t race a full-size two-stroke motocross bike during his amateur career. In fact, the 17-year-old hadn’t swung a leg over a 250cc two-stroke dirt bike until recently. In the Monster Energy video above, the rookie sensation shreds a 2023 Yamaha YZ250 at the Goat Farm in good company with his father Brian at the controls of his own smoker, albeit a much older one. Press play to watch the father-son duo burn some premix at one of the most iconic private tracks in the world.
