MX Sports, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), and participating race organizers have announced the return of the Women’s Pro Motocross Championship (WMX). Kicking off in early March and concluding in early October, the WMX series will have eight rounds in its comeback year of 2024, visiting six states along the way. Venues on the tour are as westward as Texas and easterly as Pennsylvania. Top female pro racers will compete in a two-moto format on bikes ranging in engine displacements from 125cc to 250cc.
“With the growing number of female athletes participating in the AMA Amateur Motocross events, we feel that it is time to bring back professional women’s racing,” MX Sports director Tim Cotter said. “Together with the AMA, America’s premier motocross organizers, and key members of the women’s racing community, we have developed a schedule that will showcase the best women athletes in the world at some of America’s top amateur events. We look forward to seeing the best female athletes compete against one another to see who will be crowned the 2024 WMX Champion.”
