The last time the WR450F enjoyed any mechanical updates was in 2021, when it was granted many of the same chassis and engine upgrades as the 2020 Yamaha YZ450F, which was heavily revised that year. We enjoyed riding the ‘21 WR450F; in fact, our sister publication Cycle World named it Best Enduro bike.

Last year, the bLU cRU’s quarter-liter four-stroke enduro received many of the same upgrades the Yamaha YZ250F got for 2021. We were excited to put it through its paces, as we had a blast riding the prior version, but unfortunately we weren’t able to; with the latest California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations coming into effect, Yamaha wasn’t able to bring in a WR250F or WR450F for us to test.
We’re hoping that changes this year so we can dyno, weigh, measure, and shred both of them to let our readers know how the Tuning Fork brand’s latest enduros perform. Stay tuned for more 2023 Yamaha dirt bike model releases, as we’ll be covering the updates made to the motocross and cross-country models in the near future.
