2023 Team Honda HRC Supercross and Motocross Riders Announced

Sexton, Nichols, the Lawrence brothers, and Hymas will fly the Honda flag.

Team Honda HRC has confirmed its rider roster ahead of the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, 2023 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, and 2023 SuperMotocross (SMX) World Championship. Competing in the premier class for the red riders aboard factory Honda CRF450RWEs will be Chase Sexton and Colt Nichols.

Chase Sexton enters his third year with Team Honda HRC with the goal of clinching his first premier class title.Honda

Sexton earned two AMA Supercross 250SX East Region titles with the Geico Honda team prior to entering the 450 class in 2021. Now in his third year with Team Honda HRC, the Illinois native is looking to build off a successful 2022 season, which included a runner-up finish in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship standings and being a part of the winning Team USA effort at the Motocross of Nations (MXoN) this past summer.

After winning the 2021 AMA Supercross 250SX East Region Championship, Colt Nichols spent all but a couple laps of last year sidelined with injuries. Now healthy, the Oklahoma native joins Team Honda HRC to contest the premier class in the 2023 AMA Supercross series.Honda

A new addition to Team Honda HRC’s 450 roster is Colt Nichols, who joins the organization on a supercross-only contract. “First and foremost, I’m just thankful and blessed for this opportunity to come about,” Nichols said. “It seemed like a long shot at first, and now for it to actually be real, I couldn’t be happier to be joining such a prestigious team and be on a factory Honda. I’ve always wanted to ride for this team, and they carry a very large and awesome legacy. I hope I can contribute to that, get some good results, and help the team in any way I can. Moving to the 450 class and racing the best guys in the world will be fun and very challenging, but I’ve got a great teammate to learn from. I’m really excited to get to work and get this thing going.”

After racing the AMA Supercross 250SX West Region Championship, Jett Lawrence will graduate to the 450 class full time when the AMA Motocross series gets underway.Honda

Leading factory Honda’s 250 effort is Jett Lawrence. After clinching the AMA Supercross 250SX East Region crown and successfully defending his AMA Motocross 250MX title last year, the 19-year-old Australian is switching coasts indoors, so he’ll race the 2023 AMA Supercross 250SX West Region Championship aboard a CRF250R and then switch to the CRF450RWE in preparation for a summer in the 2023 AMA Motocross 450MX class.

Hunter Lawrence finished top three in the championship standings indoors and out last year, so he’ll have his sights set on titles in the quarter-liter division in 2023.Honda

Hunter Lawrence returns to Team Honda HRC for the third year in a row. After a runner-up finish in the AMA Supercross 250SX West Region series and third place in the AMA Pro Motocross 250MX standings last year, the older Lawrence brother looks to move to the top step of the podium on the opposite coast indoors and in the quarter-liter division outdoors as well.

Chance Hymas will get his feet wet in professional racing by competing in select rounds of the 2023 AMA Supercross 250SX East Region Championship.Honda

Rounding out Team Honda HRC’s rider lineup is Chance Hymas, who enters his second year on red. The Idaho native will advance from the amateur ranks to join Hunter in select rounds of the 2023 AMA Supercross 250SX East Region Championship, which kicks off on February 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

“The 2023 season will mark 50 years of motocross for American Honda, and we’re excited to get started. We experienced some good success in 2022, including indoor and outdoor championships in the 250 class, but we’re hungry for more. We’ve got a great lineup of riders aboard competitive machinery, and talented crew and management behind them. Honda has compiled an impressive motocross and supercross heritage over the past half-century, but we’re focused on adding to it as we head into the next 50 years.” —Brandon Wilson, Honda Powersports sports and experiential marketing managerHonda
