In early 1993 when Jeremy McGrath was on his way to winning his very first supercross title, I was just a skinned-knee, snot-nosed, 8-year-old superfan. Anytime I wasn't throwing proverbial rocks at Jimmy Lewis at the races (true story, or so I hear), I was glued to the television with rapt attention each time a race was on, and without a doubt McGrath was my favorite rider on Earth. I would dream about being a racer like him one day, throwing Nac Nacs over the triples with my blue mop and nipple rings flowing in the breeze (I never daydreamed with a helmet on), as I smoked the competition. Fast forward to now: My nose is dry, my knees aren't skinned and my bank of supercross championships is equal to the number of rocks I actually threw at Jimmy. But even though I'm not the star that I once thought I'd become, I did get to finally ride McGrath's bike. Well, sort of.The mad scientists at BBR must get bored cooking up cool mini products all day, because they decided to work up something extra cool in the limited-edition, perimeter-framed Jeremy McGrath replica CRF150R. With only 10 of these bikes scheduled to be produced, I was pretty stoked to get frame No. MC0001 for an exclusive test in May's Mini Rider Magazine. Centered around a trick aluminum perimeter frame and custom aluminum gas tank, the big-wheeled 150R features all the right parts and pieces to make it a full-on MC replica, right down to the Woodpecker graphics. Very trick, to say the least. On the track, the midrange and top-end are boosted, thanks to BBR's D-Section exhaust (with spark arrestor, mind you). The frame is stiffer and much more stable than stock, and the gas tank feels surprisingly comfortable considering its size. Still, as is the case with most Dream Ride bikes, the height of coolness is definitely the attention to detail on the little Honda. The wheels, the motor, even the number plates scream awesomeness, and at only 10 more pounds than stock, this bike is much more adult-friendly than any other we've ridden. If you've got $14,995 to spare and care to own a piece of McGrath history, I strongly recommend you get in touch with BBR and inquire about the remaining machines. As for this one, well, I had to give it back at the end of the test. My rock-throwing internal 8-year-old is still fighting back the tears.Parts List
