Since 2019, Honda has offered an up-spec version of its flagship motocross bike called the CRF450RWE. The “WE” in the model name stands for “Works Edition,” and Big Red puts in a serious effort to give consumers the factory treatment and live up the Works Edition name with trick components.
In the engine performance department, there are hand-polished cylinder ports, dedicated ignition and injection mapping, a Yoshimura RS-12 exhaust system with a stainless steel header pipe and titanium muffler, Hinson Racing clutch basket, and Twin Air air filter. As far as powerplant cosmetics are concerned, the Works Edition sports a Hinson Racing Billetproof clutch cover and matte red metallic valve cover.
How does the CRF450RWE perform on our in-house dyno? And how does it differ from the standard CRF450R in this area? In terms of peak figures, Honda’s most expensive motocross bike pumps out 54.6 hp and 34.4 lb.-ft. of torque. Compared to the standard model, the CRF450RWE makes more horsepower and torque from 3,000 rpm to 3,400 rpm and from 4,200 rpm to rev limit of approximately 11,500 rpm.
