Honda focused heavily on its full-size motocross and cross-country bike chassis for 2025, but that doesn’t mean it ignored refining overall power and delivery for those models. All feature a different airbox that’s designed to straighten the pathway for airflow as well as new ECU maps. A model-specific update on the CRF450R and CRF450RX is a longer header pipe.
What do these changes result in for Big Red’s flagship cross-country racer in terms of peak power? With 52.1 hp and 34.5 lb.-ft. of torque on Dirt Rider’s in-house dyno, the 2025 CRF450RX churns out 1.1 hp and 0.4 lb.-ft. of torque more than the previous version.
“The Honda 450cc Unicam engine package is extremely versatile, by design,” test rider Casey Casper said. “Crisp, strong, and supremely moldable (being an aftermarket darling), it can take on many character traits. Want to lug the bike a gear high? Simply turn up the idle a few clicks and use that precise Nissin hydraulic clutch for all it’s worth. Want to be lazy and rev down a long straightaway? It will oblige too, just be ready for the ride of your life.”
