KTM has long been known for having one of the strongest engines in the 250cc four-stroke motocross bike segment, and that rings true once again in 2025. The fuel-injected liquid-cooled DOHC four-stroke 250cc single-cylinder engine in its 250 SX-F produces a linear power delivery, which is visible on the dyno chart, on its way to pumping out peak numbers of 40.2 hp and 18.6 lb.-ft. of torque. These figures were measured at the rear wheel on Dirt Rider’s in-house Dynojet 250i dynamometer.
“The 250 SX-F shines at high rpm and its gears are long,” test rider Michael Wicker said. “I don’t see new riders being able to utilize the power to its potential as this engine needs rpm up to get the best performance. For my intermediate-level riding ability, however, I was pleased with it.”
