2024 Montesa Cota 4RT 301RR Race Replica Dyno Test

Dyno testing Montesa Honda’s largest-displacement trials motorcycle for horsepower and torque.

It’s not all that often a trials bike finds its way onto Dirt Rider’s in-house Dynojet 250i rear-wheel dynamometer. The first rock-hopping machine we dynoed was a 2020 GasGas TXT Racing 300 in May 2020, and the next was the 2024 Montesa Cota 4RT 260R over four and a half years later. The same day Montesa’s smallest-displacement trials bike spun the drum, its larger-displacement sibling did too.

The 2024 Montesa Cota 4RT 301RR Race Replica looks the part of the Repsol Honda machines of Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli, who compete in the FIM Trial World Championship and FIM X-Trial World Championship series. These Spanish riders use their works machines to conquer the most challenging obstacles with grace and composure, all while keeping their feet on the pegs.

The Cota 4RT 301RR Race Replica sends power to its rear wheel via a fuel-injected liquid-cooled SOHC four-stroke 298cc single-cylinder engine, which produces peak figures of 16.3 hp and 15.1 lb.-ft. of torque at 6400 rpm and 3400 rpm, respectively.
