Bob Hurricane Hannah's 1981 Massacre At Saddleback DVDIf you're a Bob Hannah fan, get your $24.95 ready, because this DVD is like being a spectator at one of The Hurricane's greatest races-Saddleback '81. Like being there, that is, if you could read his mind and know what he was thinking at every turn.Bob Hannah, for those who don't know, was a top racer and charismatic dude back in the '70s and '80s. One of his sayings was, "You start it, I'll finish it." And at round two of the Outdoor series, Kent Howerton, Suzuki's defending champion after a season with Yamaha's Hannah out with injury (sound familiar?), really started something. The footage is rough, shot by a friend on Keith McCarty's early-'80s camera. The single-vantage point is a decent one, giving a view of about 50-60 percent of the track and action. This is nothing like today's great TV coverage, but that almost adds to the nostalgia. The fact that this footage exists at all is special, and it captures a few classic Hannah "feet off the pegs" moments, hence my decent score for the cinematography. The DVD is laced with Hannah's modern-day interview and voice-over as he talks you through the action, and he gets especially detailed and animated as the battle goes down to the final moments. If you're looking for big spectacle, you won't find it here, but Bob's personality makes this a really enjoyable 50 minutes of race action, and the Bonus Feature of his modern-day "One Chance To Win" speech where he roasts his old competitors is really fun. There's also a bonus Motocross Files, but it's mostly redundant after the main feature. If you're a fan of The Hurricane, or a rider who once raced at Saddleback Park, or hate Kent Howerton or are just tired of the canned podium speeches of today and want to hear a real racer talk candidly, this is one DVD you'll want to start, and finish. -Pete Peterson**
