Braking power to me is like horsepower; you can't have enough. But the quality of both is also important. While not unhappy with my stock YZ250 front brakes, I was looking to increase the power and feel. Galfer Green compound Kevlar organic brake pads offer a much improved braking power and feel over OEM. They are easy to modulate (even in slick conditions) but have great punch; one or two fingers are enough. If you like using a lot of pull, you may find these pads a bit too much, though, especially in slick or slippery ground conditions. For me these pads allow the same braking with less effort, helping reduce hand fatigue. They are very easy on the brake rotor, and I have only seen a slight reduction in pad life over OEM. This compound is not available for all bike models, but if it is for yours and you're looking for increased power and feel, give these pads a try. I've been using the Green compound since 2008 (Karel Kramer actually pointed me to these). Price is also comparable to OEM at $33.39 for the YZ250.
