Harbor Freight Tools' 10 Piece Bearing And Seal Driver Set - Dirt Rider Magazine

I've had a little bearing driver set for years, and while it doesn't get used daily or even weekly, it gets used a great deal, and when I need it, nothing else will do. Recently I had a need for a driver that had larger sizes. Harbor Freight had a 10-piece set that looked like it would do the trick. Each of the driver heads is anodized aluminum, and each size is a different color. There is a hole in the center of each, and a knurled aluminum handle allows the driver heads to be bolted to the handle. The smallest (39.5mm) of the driver heads is larger than anything in my old set. The largest is a full 81mm. Since the set arrived, I've changed a couple sets of wheel bearings and some four-stroke crank bearings. The driver heads fit well, and the whole driver set works great. The entire kit and caboodle is aluminum, so for a pro line mechanic the set isn't going to last a lifetime. The knurled handle was marked pretty well by a steel hammer, so I switched to a plastic dead-blow hammer, and there are no new impact marks. At $39.99 I'd rather replace the set every few years and have the relatively soft aluminum connecting to the bearings. At times this set is on sale for even less. If you handle your own maintenance, then this driver set is well worth having. I recently did two four-stroke bottom ends-one without the driver set and one with. The set paid for itself with that one set of crank bearings. -Karel Kramer
