The level of excitement surrounding Triumph’s TF 250-X is certainly high. The first time we were able to swing a leg over the British manufacturer’s first 250cc four-stroke motocross bike was at Gatorback Cycle Park in Alachua, Florida, in late February, and we received a long-term testbike in SoCal during summer.
Since then, we’ve logged many laps aboard the TF 250-X and have a good idea of how it performs in the dirt (full test to hit the site soon). Like every other motorcycle that comes through Dirt Rider’s test fleet, the TF 250-X was run on our in-house Dynojet 250i rear-wheel dynamometer. How did it perform? We documented peak figures of 37.8 hp and 17.4 lb.-ft. of torque.
“The TF 250-X engine is very light and free, seemingly wanting to keep going far past the rev limiter,” test rider Allan Brown said. “Even though its peak power is clearly higher in the rpm range, it still has good roll-on response at lower rpm.”
